This antique Afshar carpet, crafted in the late 19th century by the Turkic tribes of southeastern Iran, features hand-spun wool and vegetable dyes. It exhibits design traits reminiscent of Genji and Shirvan rugs, suggesting possible cultural fusion. The saffron-hued field highlights the tree of life motif, while the outer border symbolizes life's flow through a water channel, embodying the essence of existence.
All our carpets and kilims are one-of-a-kind, hand-knotted or hand-woven with 100% hand spun wool pile. Color variation is called "Abrash" which is due to none-bleached wool's absorption of the dyes used or the carpet or kilim maybe woven with 2 different batches of dyed wool, which was available at the time.
If you like uniformity-a soulless item-these are not for you. These are the reminiscent of a disappearing art.
