Chila Shirvans are usually more geometric than what you see here. That is why this is very unusual. Not only does this beautiful Chila Shirvan have geometric patterns, it also has more Kazak motives and Bidjar looking central design, which all makes the rug multi-cultural weaving. The rug has beautiful prime colors obtained from plants and insects.
The color variation you see is caused during the dying process, because yarn is dyed in batches and they have different thicknesses, strands and the dye extraction can differ based on the variety reasons. Not only that, but the yarn used is not bleached to make it uniform. Of course, that is what antique dealers and rug enthusiasts love to see.
All rugs have been hand selected from the regions that are classically famous for rug weaving. Hand-woven rug industry is seeing a decline with fewer and fewer hand weavers keeping up the profession as newer generations move into more advanced industries. As such, these one-of-a-kind rugs will become increasingly rare and are seen by many as collectibles.
