#31403. Heriz. This is a very playful rug with many ancient designs-dragons, good news birds, good luck charms- and camels carrying loads of good fortune. It is very different than regular Heriz runners that are mostly seen in the market. This one was woven in the 1st half of 20th c.
All rugs have been hand selected from the regions that are classically famous for rug weaving. Unfortunately, the hand woven rug industry is seeing a decline with fewer and fewer hand weavers keeping up the profession as newer generations move into more advanced industries. As such, these one-of-a-kind rugs will become increasingly rare and are seen by many as collectibles.
