#34403. Kayseri. Here is another ageless Kayseri from the 20th c. woven with hand spun wool and natural dyes in a very low and dense pile in SE of Turkiye. These rugs were mainly woven for the Turkish upper-class families in specific sizes; thus, the runners are mostly wider than regular sizes. They are also mostly decorated with ornate motives from nature.
All rugs have been hand selected from the regions that are classically famous for rug weaving. Unfortunately, the hand woven rug industry is seeing a decline with fewer and fewer hand weavers keeping up the profession as newer generations move into more advanced industries. As such, these one-of-a-kind rugs will become increasingly rare and are seen by many as collectibles.
