This exquisite antique Kazak carpet, woven in the Caucasus during the late 19th century, is crafted from hand-spun wool and dyed with vegetable pigments. It features a distinctive holly vine border and multiple Earth Mother medallions. The outer border is adorned with abstract Turkish love knots, inspired by early Christian crosses, symbolizing love, harmony, and protection.
All our carpets and kilims are one-of-a-kind, hand-knotted or hand-woven with 100% hand spun wool pile. Color variation is called "Abrash" which is due to none-bleached wool's absorption of the dyes used or the carpet or kilim maybe woven with 2 different batches of dyed wool, which was available at the time.
If you like uniformity-a soulless item-these are not for you. These are the reminiscent of a disappearing art.
