The city of Malayer in western Iran has a rich history and a tradition of rug-making that dates back to the pre-Islamic era. The intricate designs of Malayer rugs reflect a blend of tribal and urban influences, with common motifs including Herati, boteh, and stylized floral and animal designs. These high-quality rugs are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts for their durability and unique designs. Each Malayer rug is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece, showcasing the weaver's skill and creativity.
All our carpets and kilims are one-of-a-kind, hand-knotted or hand-woven with 100% hand spun wool pile. Color variation is called "Abrash" which is due to none-bleached wool's absorption of the dyes used or the carpet or kilim maybe woven with 2 different batches of dyed wool, which was available at the time.
If you like uniformity-a soulless item-these are not for you. These are the reminiscent of a disappearing art.
