The Shahsevan Kazak is a finely hand-woven masterpiece created in Azerbaijan using exclusively hand-spun wool and natural vegetable dyes. Its striking design features a broad white outer border paired with a soft rose-toned background that elegantly frames the carpet. The outer border is adorned with motifs intended for ceremonial gatherings, while the main border incorporates powerful symbols meant to offer protection. The central field is intricately detailed with stars, representations of family members, dragons, and ram horns. The weaver also subtly included her favorite animals, ensuring they stand out without overwhelming the composition. This piece is truly remarkable in both artistry and cultural significance.
All our carpets and kilims are one-of-a-kind, hand-knotted or hand-woven with 100% hand spun wool pile. Color variation is called "Abrash" which is due to none-bleached wool's absorption of the dyes used or the carpet or kilim maybe woven with 2 different batches of dyed wool, which was available at the time.
If you like uniformity-a soulless item-these are not for you. These are the reminiscent of a disappearing art.
