Antique Shirazi Qashqai Carpets boast a rich heritage that dates back to the 16th century, woven by influential tribes such as the Qashqai and Khamseh in the Shiraz region. These carpets are celebrated for their distinctive tribal designs and rustic appeal, vividly portraying symbols of happiness and contentment, including weeping willows, good luck, and love. This particular Qashqai carpet further enriches its narrative by incorporating a diverse range of additional motifs—peacocks symbolizing beauty and immortality, ram horns representing strength and protection, and nightingales conveying poetic inspiration and longing. Each of these carefully woven symbols reflects deep cultural meanings and the skilled artistry of its makers. Crafted with traditional techniques and natural dyes, the carpet exemplifies durability while offering a visually captivating and culturally significant piece, making it a treasured artifact for collectors and connoisseurs of Persian tribal weaving.
All our carpets and kilims are one-of-a-kind, hand-knotted or hand-woven with 100% hand spun wool pile. Color variation is called "Abrash" which is due to none-bleached wool's absorption of the dyes used or the carpet or kilim maybe woven with 2 different batches of dyed wool, which was available at the time.
If you like uniformity-a soulless item-these are not for you. These are the reminiscent of a disappearing art.
