The Mahal area in Persia, situated within Iran's Arak province, is a historically important region rather than a city. It is famed for Mahal rugs, primarily crafted in Mahallat city and nearby villages. These rugs are distinguished by their grand, detailed designs . This style rose to prominence in the late 19th century, fueled by growing European and American demand for Persian carpets.
All our carpets and kilims are one-of-a-kind, hand-knotted or hand-woven with 100% hand spun wool pile. Color variation is called "Abrash" which is due to none-bleached wool's absorption of the dyes used or the carpet or kilim maybe woven with 2 different batches of dyed wool, which was available at the time.
If you like uniformity-a soulless item-these are not for you. These are the reminiscent of a disappearing art.
