Woven by the Yuntdag tribe near Balikkesir, this rug features 100% hand-spun wool dyed with natural plant and root extracts. Crafted by Central Asian settlers who arrived in the region during the 14th-15th centuries, it serves as a spiritual meditation artifact adorned with symbolic motifs such as the Anatolian goddess, hanging oil lamp, and holy wine glass border. The thick, exceptionally soft mountain wool sourced locally enhances its quality and tactile appeal.
All our carpets and kilims are one-of-a-kind, hand-knotted or hand-woven with 100% hand spun wool pile. Color variation is called "Abrash" which is due to none-bleached wool's absorption of the dyes used or the carpet or kilim maybe woven with 2 different batches of dyed wool, which was available at the time.
If you like uniformity-a soulless item-these are not for you. These are the reminiscent of a disappearing art.
