The Caucasian Shirvan rug, originating from Western Central Asia, holds a significant place in the heritage of Turkic nomads who valued these handwoven pieces as cherished family heirlooms. Crafted using the meticulous Turkish double knotting technique and 100% mountain wool, each rug presents a unique combination of symbols conveying themes such as love, protection, and good news. This particular 21st-century piece exemplifies the lasting tradition and skill embedded in Shirvan rug-making, preserving the cultural narratives and artistic integrity passed down through generations while offering a durable and exquisite textile suitable for both collectors and connoisseurs of fine woven art.
All our carpets and kilims are one-of-a-kind, hand-knotted or hand-woven with 100% hand spun wool pile. Color variation is called "Abrash" which is due to none-bleached wool's absorption of the dyes used or the carpet or kilim maybe woven with 2 different batches of dyed wool, which was available at the time.
If you like uniformity-a soulless item-these are not for you. These are the reminiscent of a disappearing art.
